About

RoomSheet does more than show a scan as a picture or a 3D model. It exports the room data RoomPlan recognized — walls, floors, doors, windows, openings, and objects, with their dimensions, positions, and categories — as captured-room.json, so you can inspect, archive, analyze, or reuse it in your own tools and workflows outside the app.

The same scan is also turned into 2D floor plans, 3D models, and SH3D projects. Packages exported by RoomSheet can be imported back into RoomSheet.

Editing

Since version 1.1, the Parametric (Editable) view lets you correct a scan:

• Furniture — move, resize, add, or remove
• Doors, windows, and openings — move along their wall, change width and height, raise or lower them from the floor, add, or remove

Floor plans, previews, and SH3D exports follow your edits. The original scan is never changed: captured-room.json and both USDZ models stay exactly as captured, and Reset returns to them at any time.

Export

“Export Package…” saves one ZIP package per scan to Files or another location you choose. It contains:

• captured-room.json — RoomPlan's CapturedRoom as JSON: the original capture data, never rewritten by edits in the app
• model-edits.json — your edits, when the scan has any
• metadata.json — creation time, device, file list, and more
• room-parametric.usdz, room-mesh.usdz — 3D models as captured
• plan.pdf, plan.png, plan.svg, plan.csv — floor plans and a table of walls, openings, and objects, reflecting your edits
• room.sh3d — a project editable in Sweet Home 3D compatible apps, reflecting your edits
• photos/ — reference photos

The format of captured-room.json is defined by Apple's RoomPlan. It is RoomPlan's structured room model, not raw LiDAR point-cloud data.

Requirements

Creating a new room scan requires a LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro or iPad Pro supported by RoomPlan. Devices without LiDAR can still import, view, edit, manage, and export existing RoomSheet packages.

Privacy

Data storage

Scans, edits, reference photos, and generated files are stored on the device or in locations explicitly chosen by the user through system file interfaces. RoomSheet does not automatically upload scan data to a RoomSheet-operated server.

Location and orientation

If permission is granted, RoomSheet may store approximate municipality-level location and orientation as scan metadata. Location access is optional.

Reference photos

Reference photos captured in RoomSheet are stored with the RoomSheet scan and are not automatically saved to the Photos library.
